As part of the Water Access Project aimed at enhancing the environmental and sustainable waste management standards in Lebanon—funded by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation and implemented by the International Committee for the Development of Peoples (CISP) and the Wijdan Association for Development, in partnership with the Union of Municipalities of Al-Qayta’—a water pumping station in Bzal and a water distribution network for the Union of Municipalities of Jurd Al-Qayta’ in northern Lebanon were inaugurated.
The inauguration took place under the patronage of His Excellency the Minister of Energy and Water, Walid Fayad, represented by the Chairman/Director General of the North Lebanon Water Establishment, Mr. Khaled Barakat Obeid. Attendees included the Italian Ambassador to Lebanon, Mr. Fabrizio Marcelli; President of the Union of Municipalities of Jurd Al-Qayta’, Mr. Abdallah Zakaria; Mayor of Bzal, Mr. Mohammad Moussa; Mayor of Harar, Mr. Mohammad Hamad Houzeim; Technical Director of the North Lebanon Water Establishment, Engineer Kabi Nasr; Country Director of CISP, Ms. Simone Abou Jaoudeh; and Head of the Halba Investment Department, Mr. Zouhair Rifai.
