
On the occasion of World Water Day, the North Lebanon Water Establishment, in partnership with UNICEF, organized a variety of educational, awareness-raising, and recreational activities under the theme “Save Our Glaciers.” This was done in collaboration with Haqlit Public School in Bakhoun for students in the 4th, 5th, and 6th grades.
The World Water Day event began with a welcoming speech by the school principal, Ms. Dania Jamal, followed by remarks from Mr. Khaled Barakat Obeid, Chairman of the Board and Director General of the North Lebanon Water Establishment, and a speech from UNICEF delivered by Ms. Bushra Ayash. The event was attended by a representative of UNICEF, Engineer Rafed Al-Saleh, Director of the Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene Department, along with a delegation of officials from the organization. Also present were several officials from the North Lebanon Water Establishment, including Technical Director Engineer Kabi Nasr, Director of Operations Mr. Maher Saati, and Head of the Dinnieh District Mr. Hikmat Abdulaziz, in addition to a group of teaching staff members.
The activities began with a short film explaining the journey of water from the source to the consumer, followed by an interactive discussion with the students about the vital importance of water in our daily lives and the need to preserve it. The event also featured a series of fun activities, including water-related questions designed to test and enhance students’ knowledge of water resources and ways to protect them, as well as raising awareness about the importance of testing water to ensure clean and safe drinking water. New and important information was also presented to the students in an engaging and interactive manner.
The event concluded with a group photo with the students and the distribution of gifts and brochures related to the establishment.
